Sankalpa (ENG)

Sankalpa means resolve.
It's what we do when we're determined to do something.

On new year's eve, we say, from now one I will not smoke; from now on, I'm determined to loose weight.
This is Sankalpa.

Swami Satyananda Saraswati says that everything in life can fail us, except for a Sankalpa which is repeated with determination during the practice of yoga nidra (or, may I say, during the quietness of meditation).

The Sankalpa is an expression of the soul.
It should be formulated as a short sentence, formulated in a positive way, in the present moment and with conviction the conviction that it already is true.

It can be either temporary - meant to help us overcome some kind of difficulty that we're facing in life, or definitive, meant to accompany us through out our lives, reflecting the highest aspiration our soul.

It should be short and it should express our soul's innermost desire.

It is said that we should also keep the same sankalpa, until it becomes true, meaning that we should not constantly change it.
If in the present moment we want to gain health, in whatever area of our life it may be, we can state during our meditation or during yoga nidra, - "I am healthy".

It can have a very powerful and transformative effect, in fact, miraculous even, you won't believe me...
The important thing is to keep steady.
You should repeat it often, and give it power so that it manifests in time.

Good luck 🤞!

I recommend a cd with guided yoga nidra practice's by Marco Peralta (in Portuguese language) or the yoga nidra practices (English) from the Bihar School of Yoga, founded by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, a most prominent disciple of Swami Sivananda.

God bless.
